Quick Exam Presentation Tips to Boost Your Score

These work across all boards (CBSE/ICSE/Kerala) and subjects — especially for long-answer questions (5–8 marks).

  1. Treat Your Paper as a Performance Examiners scan hundreds of sheets. Neat, structured answers stand out and earn impression marks.
  2. Margins, Spacing & Scale
    • 1-inch margins left/right. Do not write anything on the left margin other than the question number given on the question paper. Write number very clearly and large enough to read properly.
    • Use scale + pencil for headings/lines (never freehand/pen). (Keep an eye on the time, don’t waste time decorating the paper)
    • No folding, keep sheets flat.
  3. Clear, Underlined Titles
    • Write powerful headings (e.g., “Proof that √7 is Irrational”, “Definition of XYZ” etc). Headings help the examiner to identify the question easily.
    • Underline with scale, helps examiners spot and award points quickly. It brings a neatness overall.
  4. Guess the Marking Scheme
    • Think step-wise: Examiners give marks per keyword/point/step.
    • Always include: Assumption/Definition, Points, Underlined keywords, Boxed formula, Labeled diagram, Conclusion.
    • Check the above links for a sample marking scheme. This will give you an idea on how the marks are allocated.
  5. Bullets Over Paragraphs
    • Paragraphs hide points.
    • Use bullets/numbering → every point gets counted.
    • Give proper spacing between points, so they understand the structure at a glance.
  6. Diagrams & Graphs – Neat & Labeled
    • Pencil + scale (never pen).
    • Big size, 5–8 labels + arrows.
    • Graphs: X/Y axes, title, scale.
  7. Structure Special Questions
    • Proofs: Heading, Statement, Diagram, Numbered steps, Box formula, “Hence proved”.
    • Comparisons: Table or bullets (Similarities/Differences).
    • Problems: Given data, Formula boxed, Steps, Units, Conclusion. Even if you don’t arrive at the conclusion, keep in mind, well structured answers give a good impression, which might motive them to give you marks (not sure, just give a try, nothing to loose)

Quick Tip: BOOST

Begin Strong – Intro/Assumption

Organize in Points – Bullets/steps

Outline Keywords – Underline main terms

Sketch Neatly – Labeled diagram

Tie It Up – Strong conclusion

These small changes add real marks, especially in digital/OSM marking (CBSE 2026).

Practice them in mocks today!

God bless your preparation. Stay calm, write confidently, and do your best. You’ve got this!
